The Genesis song list, All Songs: a search field, pinned songs such as Morning Light and Sunday Set, today’s ideas and a voice memo, and the yellow write button and red record button together at the bottom.
The song Morning Light, in progress, version 4. Under the title, one capsule shows the key G and 92 BPM. Verse 1’s chord loop is playing: D glows in the row G, D, E minor, C, above lyrics with colored chord chips. Pre-chorus and Chorus have loops of their own.
Morning Light with Verse 1 playing as a chord loop: D glows in the row G, D, E minor, C, along with the D over the lyrics.

Why Genesis

Notes has your lyrics.

Voice Memos has your melody.

Your head has everything else.

Genesis puts it all on one page.

Notes, meet Voice Memos

Yellow writes.
Red records.

It lives at the bottom of All Songs.
One tap, and the song has started.

Write it the way it comes to you.

Words first, chords first or a melody you can’t stop humming. Genesis follows your lead.

1Write

Type the words, and they fall into verses and choruses.

A new song is a plain page, as quick as a note. Lyrics and chord charts paste in with their chords on the right syllables.

Writing with the keyboard up: Verse 1 has two lines and the cursor waits in the empty Pre-chorus. Above the keyboard, the Rhyme Bar offers name, same and came for “frame”.

2Play

Tap a chord, and it lands on the exact syllable it belongs to.

The Chords bar offers the chords in your key, or type any chord you like. Loop a section’s chords and write the melody over them.

3Sing

Press record, and your take becomes a track, right under the lyrics it goes with.

One tap on the red button, even from the song list. Takes stack into tracks, each in its own color.

A Verse 1 card. Tapping the space above a word shows a dotted slot and a row of chords; picking one fills the slot. Then a chord is held and slides along the line to another word.

The Lead vocal track panel under the song. Punch In is on, one line is picked under the waveform and turns red, and the red button records over just that line after a short count-in.

Then the magic

Then Genesis does the part nobody likes.
It writes it down.

The words you sang. The chords you played. The key, the tempo, the time signature.

Recording take 3 of All I Wanted Was You: at the bottom, the recording card shows Take 3 at 0:12 over a red waveform, with Auto Lyrics switched on and a red stop button. Intro and Verse 1 are still empty; the Chorus has two lines with chords.
A song page once Genesis has written it down: Morning Light, an idea, version 1. One capsule shows G and 92 BPM, each with a check. Verse 1 holds four sung lines, from “Woke up to the morning light” to “Calling out my name”, with G, D, E minor and C over the words.

Sorted for you

The words you sang land in Verse, Chorus and Bridge, not one long block. Accept them with a tap, or keep writing your own.

Key Finder

Hear a song you love? Hold up your iPhone and Key Finder names its key, then sets yours in one tap.

Stem Splitter

Pull a recording apart into vocals, instruments, bass and drums, each on its own track.

With Genesis Pro, all on your iPhone. Nothing is uploaded. Tempo and time signature from a recording need iOS 27.

Never stuck for long.

The help you need is already on the page, so you never have to leave the song to find it.

Stuck on a line? Pro

The Rhyme Bar is already waiting above the keyboard. Need more? Rhyme Finder searches more than 31,000 words.

Rhyme Finder for the word day: perfect rhymes such as way, say, stay and away, then close rhymes and words that sound like it.

Forgot how a chord goes? Pro

How-To-Play shows its shape in one tap, on guitar or piano. Then play it on the piano that comes with Genesis.

All I Wanted Was You with the How-To-Play strip open on Guitar: finger diagrams for D minor, B flat and F, with B flat picked.

Want to try it slower, in another key?

Make a new idea, and keep every one you’ve ever made.

The Versions panel for All I Wanted Was You: V3 Chorus rewrite is current, V2 Slower verse and V1 First draft are kept, each with its chords and takes.

ChordAtlas & ChordCompass Pro

Stuck on the same four chords?

Explore the world of chord progressions in ChordAtlas: more than 300 you can search by feeling, style or song, play out loud, and drop straight into your verse. Don’t know where to go? Use the ChordCompass. Endless inspiration, one tap away.

  • Search by feeling

Need something sad? Search “sad.” Play it. Make it yours.

  • Hear it first

Play any progression out loud in your song’s key before you use it.

  • Drop it in

One tap puts the chords into your verse, right over the words.

  • ChordCompass

Suggests the chords that fit next, from your key, tempo, section and the chords around them.

ChordAtlas in the key of G: progressions such as Hit-song loop, Hit loop from the 6 and Climber, each with a feeling, a row of colored chords, a heart and a play button, and a Use button for your own idea.

SoundShaper Pro

Make it sound the way it sounds in your head.

Stack your takes as tracks, then give each one its own sound. Start with one glowing puck on the Tone Map, or open a full rack of real knobs. Clean up a noisy room, and punch in one line without singing the whole take again.

The Keys track panel in Advanced view: an EQ with Low, Mid, High and Air knobs, under the Keys player.

The Keys track panel with its Tone Map. The glowing puck moves from Natural to Warm, Dreamy, Bright and Up front and back, and the sound’s name above the map follows it.

Themes

Write in a room
that feels like yours.

Eight looks for every song: Frosted is free, the other seven come with Pro. Your words and chords never move.

FrostedSoft glass, gentle glow

All I Wanted Was You in the Frosted theme: soft glass with a gentle glow. The same song in Notebook: cream paper and a serif title. The same song in Graphite: matte, true black at night. The same song in Dusk: a soft violet sunset glow. The same song in Rustic Paper: aged paper and typewriter type. The same song in Terminal: green text on a black screen, like an old computer. The same song in Retro Notes: handwriting on a yellow legal pad. The same song in Napkin: blue-pen handwriting on a quilted paper napkin.

Take it anywhere.

Text a rough mix to the band. Print a chord chart for Sunday. Send every track, at full quality, to whoever mixes it next.

Questions

Is Genesis free?

Yes. Writing, chords, up to 3 tracks and 3 ideas per song, and exporting the song, a chord chart and lyrics are free. No account needed. Pro adds the rest, with a 7-day free trial on the yearly plan.

Does Genesis need iOS 27?

No. Genesis runs on iOS 26 and later. Only two things need iOS 27: tempo and time signature from a recording, and the Grand Piano. Auto Lyrics, Auto Chords, the key, Stem Splitter and everything else work on iOS 26.

Does it work without internet?

Yes, even in airplane mode. Two things download once: the Auto Lyrics speech model (about 250 MB) and the Grand Piano sound, the first time you use each.

Can I use it on iPad or Mac?

Genesis 1.0 is for iPhone. iCloud sync between your devices comes next, and Genesis for iPad and Mac is part of the bigger plan.

Will my tracks open in my DAW?

Yes, with Pro. Studio Export gives you every track as a WAV, stems included, all starting at the top of the song, so they line up in Logic Pro, Ableton Live, Pro Tools or any other DAW. Full session files for your DAW are on the way.

What happens to my songs if I get a new iPhone?

Until sync arrives, your songs live on your iPhone and are part of its iCloud Backup, so they come back when you set up a new iPhone from that backup. More on moving to a new iPhone
